2007-06-10 | Townsend-Pinckney-Lounsbury | I read with interest your "Lounsbury Tree #37" - Spring 2003 because of an entry I have been trying to support for many years. On page 8 you describe the "The Robert Lounsbury Mystery" and include a statement that Elizabeth PINCKNEY (m Robert5) was the daughter of Gilbert and Sybil (TOWNSEND) PINCKNEY of Somers, Westchester County, NY. I have found a similar citation in the 1907 book by Franklin Couch detailing some of the history of the PINCKNEY family. Your refernce and one in the 1907 book to "Sybil" or "Sybel" rather than "Mary" are unique in my research. Do any of your members or readers know the source for the "Sybil" reference? |

They had a son whose name was Harmon Greenlee who married Helen Cooley. The Caleb Greenlees lived in West Terre Haute Indiana and Harmone Greenlee lived most of the time in Dennison Ill. I believe all them are buried in the cemetary down the road in Dennison. I would like to know more about the family. This is neat that you have this site here. I wish the other families would do this. I wish I had time to research all my family surnames. Thanks for any info you have. Oh, Harmon Greenlee and Helen had a daughter Barbara who is my mom. |

2001-01-31 | Lounsbury, Pomeroy, Vaughn | Am interested in learning more about my Lounsbury relatives. Am descended from Isaiah Lounsbury who lived for a time around Green Mountain, New Brunswick, Canada. He had among other children a son ISAIAH HORACE LOUNSBURY (b. 15 July 1850 @ Worchester MA--died 22 Oct 1927). The son Isaiah married Mary Ann Pomeroy on 10 Jan 1868 place unknown and loved for a long time in Minidoka, Idaho where he had operated a general store. Isaiah & Mary Ann's daughter NELLIE ELMIRA lOUNSBURY (born 26 May 1869, Green County, WI --died 5 June 1935 Ola,Idaho) Married Morgan A. Vaughn on 5 July 1886 in Martinsburg, Dixon Co., Nebraska. Morgan Vaughn was born 29 Oct 1856 in Syracuse NY. He may have worked as a druggest in Martinsburg, before moving to Idaho during the turn of the century. I know from what my grandmother said that there were many children in each branch of the family. Both the Older and the younger Isaiah Lounsburys were said to have served with a Wisconsin regiment during the Civil War and there was also a Daniel Lounsbury who may have been the brother to the younger Isaiah. Thanks. |

At the top of the ribbon are the dates 1739-1887 followed by a logo with a "C" on top of a "N" on top of a "G" with a "3" intertwined around the middle of the "N". This is followed by "Veteran Association / Camp Lounsbury / Aug. 25, 1887". I'm assuming this is a National Guard unit. Because of the 1739 origin date, I think I can rule out California and Colorado. That leaves Connecticut, but I have yet to find a location with the name "Lounsbury" I suppose it could be Canadian. Can anyone help me identify this piece. Thanks. |

1999-06-05 | Loundsbury | My greatgreatgrandfather George W. Boswell married May Loundsbury ca. 1830 in the District of Columbia. The 1850 census says both were born in D.C. I am not convinced of that but they appear in the 1840 and 1850 censuses as living there and raising a large family, including my greatgrandfather James H. Boswell. I'd like to find out what a LOUNSBURY was doing in D.C. so early, since at that time there were virtually no other persons with that surname in the Chesapeake. |
